Laura Smith has more than 13 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, curriculum writer, and consultant/trainer. Laura’s Bachelor’s degree is in English Literature and her Master’s is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Gifted, Talented, and Creative Individuals. As a teacher, Laura’s experiences range from kindergarten through the college level. She has taught high school English and Title I, middle school English, and elementary Gifted and Talented (language arts, science, and math). Additionally, Laura has coached Odyssey of the Mind, Mock Trial, Forensics, and more! As the mother of two young children, Laura is actively learning about early childhood as well. As a curriculum writer and author, Laura has collaborated on a number of published social and emotional learning materials including Second Step (social skills), Steps to Respect (bullying prevention and friendship development), and Woven Word (emergent literacy and social skills). Laura is currently helping with implementation of a Drug Free Communities Grant as a Family/School/Community Coordinator for the Snoqualmie Valley Community Network. |
